AI & Financial Disclaimer
Last updated: July 10, 2026
MyImpactAdviser is built on artificial intelligence. That's not a footnote — it's the core of how the product works. We think you deserve to know exactly what that means: how AI is involved in every document we create, what it's good at, where it falls short, and what this service is (and isn't).
We wrote this page to be straightforward, not to bury important information in legal jargon. Please read it carefully — it's the most important policy page on this site.
1. How We Use AI
Every core feature of MyImpactAdviser is powered by artificial intelligence — specifically, Anthropic's Claude. This includes:
- Portfolio alignment analyses and reports — When we analyze funds, portfolios, or individual holdings against your values, the research synthesis and alignment assessments are produced by AI using publicly available data. Company and fund research is conducted through Google's Gemini API (with Google Search grounding), SEC EDGAR filings, and supplemental web search.
There is no human advisor, editor, or reviewer in the loop. The documents you receive are AI-generated from start to finish.
2. This Is Not Financial Advice
Important Disclaimer
- MyImpactAdviser is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, or fiduciary.
- The documents we generate — including alignment reports and portfolio analyses — are educational and planning tools, not professional financial, legal, or tax advice.
- Using this service does not create a fiduciary, advisory, or professional relationship of any kind between you and MyImpactAdviser.
- You should consult qualified financial advisors, attorneys, and tax professionals before making investment decisions. Our tools are designed to help you prepare for those conversations, not replace them.
3. AI Limitations
AI is a powerful tool, but it has real limitations. We want you to be aware of them so you can use the documents we generate with appropriate judgment.
- Errors and inaccuracies — AI-generated content may contain factual errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. Language models can state incorrect information with confidence.
- Inconsistency — The AI may produce somewhat different results if you run the same analysis twice. This is a normal property of how large language models work, not a bug.
- Training data biases — AI models reflect patterns in the data they were trained on. This means they may have blind spots, carry implicit biases, or lack coverage in areas that are underrepresented in their training data.
- No market predictions — The AI cannot predict market performance or guarantee investment outcomes. Nobody can, and you should be skeptical of anyone who claims otherwise.
- Data freshness — Company and fund research data is sourced from public records (SEC filings, web sources), but it may be outdated, incomplete, or reflect conditions that have changed since the data was last published.
- Alignment is not certification — Our alignment scores and assessments are based on publicly available data and AI interpretation. They are not audited certifications, ESG ratings from a ratings agency, or guarantees of any company's or fund's actual practices.
We strongly encourage you to review all generated content critically and verify important claims independently before relying on them.
4. How Your Data Is Processed
Understanding how your information flows through AI systems is important. Here is what happens at each stage:
- Portfolio analysis — When we analyze portfolios or holdings, company and fund data is researched using public sources including SEC EDGAR filings, Google's Gemini API (with Google Search grounding), and supplemental web search. This research data is then processed by Claude to produce alignment assessments.
Anthropic's API usage policies state that data sent through their API is not used to train their models. For full details on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Investment Risk Disclosure
- All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. There is no guarantee that any investment strategy will achieve its objectives.
- Past performance does not guarantee future results. Historical data presented in our analyses is informational only.
- Values-aligned investing may involve trade-offs with financial returns, portfolio diversification, or available investment options. Constraining your investment universe based on values criteria may result in different performance than unconstrained approaches.
- The alignment scores and assessments in our reports are based on publicly available data and AI interpretation. They are analytical tools, not audited certifications or guarantees of any company's or fund's actual environmental, social, or governance practices.
6. Regulatory Status
MyImpactAdviser provides educational technology tools designed to help individuals clarify their investment values and prepare for conversations with financial professionals.
- We are not a registered investment adviser under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
- We are not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), or any state securities regulator.
- We do not provide personalized investment recommendations. The documents we generate reflect your stated values and preferences, but they are not advice to buy, sell, or hold any particular security or investment product.
- We are not a broker-dealer and do not facilitate or execute securities transactions.
7. Your Responsibility
You are responsible for your own investment decisions. The alignment reports and other documents we generate are starting points — tools to help you think more clearly about what matters to you and to have better conversations with qualified professionals. They are not final investment directives.
We built MyImpactAdviser because we believe everyone deserves access to the kind of structured financial planning process that used to require expensive professional help just to get started. But “getting started” is exactly what this is. The next step is bringing your alignment report to a qualified financial advisor who can help you put your plan into action.
